Meiga is the beautiful word for “witch” in Galician. Interestingly, “Meiga” means “sweet” and “gentle” in Portuguese, and since both languages are very alike and have a similar root, I find this connection beautiful.

Meiga is made from a sheepskin I handtanned myself the good, old way (you can learn more about the tanning method here). The collar is about 65×48 cm and is an entire piece, which means that it has no seams. It is longer on the back and personally I feel it evokes something very ancient and primal. It is perfect to use over a coat or dress, to add that extra warmth around the shoulder area this Winter. It is also perfect for ritual or re-enactment.
